James Mahoney

I’ve worked as a journalist, photo-journalist, marketing communications writer and creative director. Over that time, I’ve chronicled life as I see it, sharing images and stories with colleagues, friends and associates.

Broader exposure to my photographic work began in 2013. It has been accepted in juried shows at the Griffin Museum of Photography (Winchester, MA), Davis Orton Gallery (Hudson, NY),  Black Box Gallery (Portland, OR), The Chateau Gallery (Louisville, KY), the SE Center for Photography (Greenville, SC), the Maine Museum of Photographic Arts (Portland, ME), and forwarded for jury consideration at the Palm Springs Photo Fest. It is also included in private collections in the United States and England.

I’m a former board member of the Photographic Resource Center (PRC), Boston/Cambridge, MA.

Portrait of James is by Ralph Lucier.

Things to Know

Limited Editions

I issue Limited Editions in a single size that’s appropriate for the particular image.

A Limited Edition has two kinds of prints: a certain quantity of prints that are individually numbered, and an additional, smaller quantity that are artist’s proofs. A numbered print identified as, for example, 2/8 means that it’s the second print issued out of a total of eight prints in the edition. Similarly, an artist’s proof is identified as A/P.

Some photographers release multiple “limited editions” of the same image. Some offer them at the same time. Others, after the original “limited edition” is sold out, create a new “limited edition” at a slightly different size, and often in larger quantity.

My limited editions are precisely that: one size at one quantity. Period. When the Limited Edition is sold out, no further prints of it will be available for purchase from me at any size.

The pricing for Limited Edition prints is progressive. The prices for the prints sold after the first print will be higher, with the final prints available in the edition being the highest priced because of their scarcity.

Open Editions

Some images are offered as Open Editions, which means that there is no limit to the number of prints that can be purchased. Open Editions also may be available at different sizes.

Return Policy

If an image has been damaged when you receive it, simply return it postage paid, and I’ll send a replacement.

I will not share your information with anyone unless I am legally required to do so.

I federally register the copyright for all my images, and I reserve all rights. Except for industry-standard uses, such as promoting exhibitions or reviews of the work, images may not be reproduced in any form without my prior written permission.
